As we draw closer to a new year - an Olympic year (Tokyo 2020) - there is a growing buzz of excitement around anything sport. Manor Longbridge is embracing that interest and energy early on, using the special vibe the Olympics brings to promote and push engagement in sport and physical activity.
Following on from the Cross Country success in October, a group of Year Five athletes participated in the Barking & Dagenham SSP Sportshall Athletics Championships in December. Taking place at Sydney Russell School over three days, the event saw 32 teams of athletes from different schools competing to represent the borough at the London Youth Games.
The athletes have been training hard two mornings a-week before the start of the school day for the past couple of months, and this dedicated preparation saw them compete admirably against some very strong teams.
The squad represented Manor Longbridge in impeccable fashion, demonstrating many of the values we hold highly in our school community: honesty, resilience, teamwork, caring and respect.
Manor Longbridge is very proud of all our athletes that competed and we look forward to seeing your hard work blossom into further success in the future. Well done!
