General English Information

In Key Stages 1 and 2 (Years 1 - 6) The English curriculum at Manor Infants and Longbridge School is based on the National Curriculum. The Early Years Curriculum is used to plan the work for the children in the Nursery and Reception classes.

 

Before starting school

The following suggestions can help you to prepare your child for the groundwork for reading:

 

  • Do talk about letters and sounds with your child.
  • Do play matching games (e.g. snap, lotto).
  • Do share books and stories.
  • Do spend time talking with and listening to your child.
  • Do visit your local library.
  • Do play listening games and singing rhymes.
